Publishing video content
In order to ensure our content reaches the widest audience possible, the majority of our showcase video content is hosted on the University's main YouTube account.
Although we aim to support all University activity in whatever way we can, Marketing and Communications reserves the right to decline publishing of video content that does not meet our quality threshold, contains any copyrighted material, or may contain inaccurate or misleading information. If in doubt, get in touch prior to submitting your content.
Adding subtitles
Our content should be accessible to all, so we aim to add subtitles to all of our published videos. Content published by Marketing and Communications will have subtitles added.
If the video is uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo subtitles will be automatically generated by those platforms, however if more accurate subtitles are needed or burnt in subtitles these will need to be manually added.
For help with content on other platforms please contact the Studio Team.
Uploading
To request the upload of content to one of the University's YouTube accounts, please complete the below form.
We have several YouTube channels the represent the University and depending on the type of content you are submitting; we will upload to the appropriate channel that is best placed for it.
For example, the main University channel is where our showcase content goes, for example course videos, videos about facilities and accommodation or main promotional videos. Other videos such as explainer videos or full-length lectures may go on our Herts Now or Teaching and Learning channels and any research specific content would go on the dedicated research channel.
Please note if your video is for the university website, we are currently going through a period of refreshing our university website and as a result we are migrating our video embedding to Vimeo as this provides a higher quality viewing experience without advertisements and allows us to apply our own branding to the video player.
After submitting the form, you will be asked to continue to Exchange File, where you should forward your content to production@herts.ac.uk.
